Are websites put in search automatically?
Feb 17, 2025
I met an amazing entrepreneur in an online forum. She has a very cool business that helps other businesses set up their back office processes. Their payroll, accounting, you know, all the things you need to keep a business running as it grows.
We instantly connected and we exchanged websites so we could stay in touch.
Fast forward a few months
I found the note on my desk with her website name and decided to reach out to her. I opened up chrome and typed the website name into the search box on the front page.
I didn't receive any results back with that name. Strange. Thinking I made a typing mistake I tried again and still no results.
Trying another way
So, I put her whole web address in the upper URL bar.
I typed "https://www.herbusiness.com" in to the web address bar and then her website home page displayed. Odd right?
The reason why
Websites are not always automatically read by search engine programs. If you want your pages to be included in the catalog you must follow a process to request the site be read.
